*hugs* infodumping is the best! I love hearing people tell me about the things they're interested in, even if I have no clue. I'm so sorry you got made fun of for it.

I can see why that would make you cringe, though. For me, I think it's more about people doing things that I'd never even thought of doing, for example public cosplay. The strangeness is what gives me that initial feeling of cringe and then I need to take that moment to reset my thoughts and realize what's happening in my brain and how I actually want to feel instead.
