I'm currently on the very outer edges of wank surrounding someone who should probably be listed with the MsScribes and Cassie Clares of fandom but somehow doesn't have much of a fanlore page at all.

Four days ago, I had no idea they existed. Now, the iceberg floats by me as I try not to get sucked underwater so that I can see the rest of the story.

One more topic to add to my never-ending list of fan studies papers I'll never actually write: Parasocial Relationships and Fandom BNFs

Instead, I think I'll just work on my own version of "AO3's Terms of Service for Dummies"

sigh. it's fine? but yes, I wish people would stop tagging me in things. I wrote my initial post about what happens when AO3 finds you violated TOS because I'd had three - THREE - different people tag me in their rant posts about how they shouldn't have been suspended/warned because their TOS violation was important/necessary/special in some way. To say I was fed up would be to put it mildly.

after my first post, however, that opened the door to more :( I was trying to be sympathetic to the friend-of-the-one-involved in DMs but I had to give up eventually. I have no desire to tell someone right to their face that, "Hey. The reason why these facts aren't lining up? Is because she's lying through her teeth."

Besides, that person has posted all of the evidence of their own wrongdoing on their own blog so if you can't see it for yourself, I can't really point it out to you, y'know?

I've been thinking about DWing more recently and this might not be the best reason to come back but at least it released a little pent up steam lol. But yes. I should really put my focus into something more useful than just rolling my eyes at a BNF having a temper tantrum because her toy was temporarily taken away.

Sounds like people still see you as some kind of Official AO3 Representative 😂 Kudos for taking the time to explain things to people in DMs and giving them a chance to understand though, I always get wary when things move to private channels in this context!

Looking forward to seeing more of you on Dreamwidth if coming back had been brewing for a while :D If you'd like tips for active comms or anything else, I've got plenty :D Right now I wonder if you might find meta_warehouse interesting, in particular.

I had already reblogged a Bernie Sanders meme of "I am once again asking you to realize I'm not an official AO3 account" after I got the second tag about a case. Then this BNF one started up. I honestly don't know how to get it across that a blog called "ao3 comment of the day" is not official. I mean. C'mon people! lol

I've managed to stay mostly outside (I hope). I generally try to keep the stuff I post general enough to apply to whoever sees it, whenever they might end up seeing it. I get a lot of reblogs on posts from years ago so now I try to keep that in mind lol
